Hello anyone who is actually reading this (me). Been a while since I've updated my blog, so HI! Lately I have been determined to see Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes in concert. Coming to Michigan in September. Uber excited I have a plan of sweet talking Jade with my flirtatious abilities :>) Either that or bribing her with weed.

I hate to say so, but I am ever so slightly disappointed in the new album. Not only did I hear even less of my lovely Jades voice in this album, I also noticed that she has become to fade away into the background. Before she had her solo moments in the spotlight in songs such as Home where she showed off her vocals in a duet, or even had many more of the back up vocals, now her back up vocals which would fit in with the given song are flooded over with instruments such as the trumpet, accordion and guitar ect. (personal opinion= Jade needs a solo album.)

One hour and forty seven minutes exactly until the new album is out! I've briefly heard some of it but im crossing my fingers for much more of jades voice!

Thursday, May 24, 2012

Two long ass days until the new album comes out! I'm so fucking excited to be surprised by jade yet again. Hopefully Alex has come to realize how amazing she actually is, and shares the spotlight for more than two fucking songs!

American Apperel Interview (OLDER?)

Jade Castrinos, a 19-year-old American Apparel employee and singer, arrives at the office. Castrinos is one of Hunter's most recognizable muses. His camera has captured her dancing, eating fast food, playing in the ocean, jumping, kicking, brushing her teeth, climbing out of fair rides, whipping her hair about and squeezing into a clothes dryer while smoking a cigarette among other things.

In one picture, Castrinos is in a food aisle at a convenience store. She is jumping high into the air, her legs tucked underneath her, her hair an explosion. She is wearing tiny shorts and worn-down cowboy boots, the very image of hip, rock 'n' roll bliss.

Hunter seems to feed off Castrinos' energy.

As the interview progresses, she sits against a wall with a giant piece of bubble gum squeezed between her teeth. She pulls the ends of it down away from the sides of her mouth to create a long stretchy glob of goo, while Hunter goes behind a table to change into a pair of gleaming white Diesel jeans, a gift.

"What are you doing?" Hunter asks flirtatiously.

"Science project," she manages to say through the gum.

"We got to take a picture of that," Hunter says, quickly snapping a few pictures with one hand while adjusting his belt with the other.

On the Scene

The night starts at the Roosevelt Hotel for Mark "The Cobra Snake" Hunter.

He has parlayed connections to make it inside a Teen Vogue party, poolside. There is a red carpet and paparazzi gantlet through which Paris Hilton, Nicole Ritchie and other celebrities walk.

It's only 9 p.m., so the party is sparsely peopled. Castrinos has a Red Bull and a cigarette. Hunter is surveying the scene. There are large see-through beach balls floating on the pool. White leather ottomans are spread about with glass cocktail tables propped up by glittery disco balls.

Bored, Hunter decides to head to the Bloc Party concert at the Palladium. He and Castrinos plan on returning to the Teen Vogue party and then make it to Cinespace just as the night reaches its peak.

While mulling through this, he finds himself standing near a tall, gorgeous woman who has turned away from her conversation with a pair of men in dark jackets and is looking directly at Hunter. It seems obvious that the woman wants her picture taken.

"I know," Hunter says, declining to lift his camera. "Sometimes I don't like giving in to that."

Although he hesitates to admit it, Hunter is in some way an arbiter of fashion. He takes pictures of people who are extremely attractive, extremely unattractive or extremely well dressed. They wear outfits that look as though they belong in the fashion spreads of magazines like Flaunt or Nylon, but seem far more natural and casually perfect.

"When I go to a club, I'm not telling people what they should wear," Hunter explains. "But I know for a fact various trend research companies have been stealing my photos for presentations."

But it is more than what people are wearing that draws visitors to the site. It is what the pictures represent, the life of the party, of the seen and be seen, of being young, cool and intoxicated.

Hunter receives e-mails from people in far-off world cities, among them Mexico City and Moscow, who plead with him to come party with them. He gets messages from far less urbane American locales, including South Carolina, expressing envy at his lifestyle.

"I was just wondering," writes a viewer on the website's "Hot Email Action" section, "what are the qualifications to make it on your site?"

Julie Eng Interview With Jade

City on a Hill Press: So I just read a review that described your group as more of a ‘traveling vagabond family’ than a typical band. Is that accurate?
Jade Castrinos: I mean, that’s a part of it, but that’s not the whole thing — we’re definitely a band and gather around the purpose of music. But the family idea, it’s kind of the lifeblood of the whole thing. Like the song ‘Home,’ that’s Alex [Ebert, the lead singer] and I just professing our love for each other as best buds. But we are like siblings, so there is definitely a ‘vagabond family’ thing, yeah.
CHP: So with the large family/band-style group — there are at least 10 of you at each show — there have to be a lot of different ideas and influences. Has it been difficult to incorporate everyone’s input? How do you make that work?
JC: You mean like with making music?
CHP: Yeah, with the songs you guys write and perform.
JC: Well, everybody is a really talented musician. For the record, Alex had some ideas for songs, but everyone came in and played it, and it’s like, you play how you feel about the music — like, ‘What do you feel here?’ There’s no ‘Play it this way!’ It’s very … everyone’s involved.
CHP: And how would you categorize that music? The term ‘folk’ has been thrown around — does that fit your music and your group? What does ‘folk’ mean in terms of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros?
JC: I don’t know. (Laughs.) I mean — yeah, we’re definitely folk, but I don’t know — I always say our band category is happiness.
CHP: Can you tell me a little about the band’s name?
JC: Yeah, Alex wrote this novel, and the main character was Edward Sharpe, and he came to save the world but kept falling in love with girls, so he wasn’t completing his mission — I’m not sure I’m the one to ask about this, I might get it wrong but — (loud noise, Jade yells) — Wait, I completely lost track — what are we talking about? Could you repeat the question?
CHP: We were talking about the band’s name, and you were explaining about Alex’s novel.
JC: Oh yeah, yeah, he might be the best person to ask about this, but [the novel] is definitely, like, reflected in our songs and the videos we’re doing.
CHP: What about your debut album? Tell me about writing and recording ‘Up From Below.’
JC: When we started, the guitar player Nico — we recorded at his house, he and Airin had a studio in their basement and we would record there and it was so magical. Nico’s girlfriend Becky would make the most amazing food and we’d just have dinner and jam every night and come up with great songs. It was all magical, but definitely the beginning … and definitely Becky’s cooking was a huge part.
CHP: So last question, then I’ll let you go. Your kind of hippie-throwback vibe definitely has an audience in the students of UC Santa Cruz. Are you guys excited to play here, or do you have any expectations about the show?
JC: We’re totally excited to play there. I don’t know if we’ve played there before, but I’ve definitely driven through that area, it’s beautiful. Are there redwoods there?
CHP: Yeah, tons.
JC: I love the forest! … We’re definitely excited to play there.

After Edward Sharpe, listening to music with Jade. I love how shes rolling either a joint or cigarette in the backround. HAhah

Someone: "QUICK! If you were stranded on an island, and you had to pick one person to go with you, who would you take?" (and ofcourse they are expecting your response will be, "YOU!" with a large smile)
Realistically Me: "Jade Fucking Castrinos"
Them: WHHOOO?????
ME: :D Just an obsession

Jade On The Road with Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros!!!!

Quick fact #3:
Jade used to be an american apparel model. Why am I not surprised? It sure does explain ALOT though. Hell, I would shop there alot more if she were all over the fucking billboards, I mean honestly, can anyone resist that face?

“The other night we had a show in Montana and it was just incredible,” she muses. “We had one of those moments when everyone is jamming and we become a unit and everything syncs up in the room.”  “Those are the ones. The soul shakers. The moments when I understand why I’m on earth.”-Jade

Her words truly mean a lot. When someone says "who would you like to eat dinner with if you could with anyone?" I would say "Jade fucking Castrinos baby!" because this chick really seems like she knows how to carry on a conversation. And one hell of a conversation if I have anything to say about it!

Quick Fact 2: Jade used to wake up in the middle of the night as a child and sleep walk. When her mom would stop & ask her what she was doing she would state "I'm going Home. I'm going Home"
Is anyone out there even reading my blog? I see that I have a handful of page views but I'm not positive if its just me viewing myself so many times. Thank you to anyone who actually is reading this though!

I am absolutely in love with the stand by me video sung by Jade. I've been trying to learn to play that version on my guitar to attempt to mimic what she did with the song. Shes too original for me.... I can't find the tabs for the way she plays it. :( saddness!!!!

Is it bad that i'm jealous of that tamborine?

Jesus christ she gets into the music. It gives you chills when she gets crazy on stage. Such a crowd pleaser!

I love her, she has some crazy fucking dimples though.
Seriously though, Alex Ebert went off gallivanting and made his own album, what else is new? I for one, think that jade should be given the opportunity to go off and make her own record. Fuck yeah I'd buy that!!! And hopefully there are many other people reading this who think the same thing.

Monday, April 23, 2012

Quick fact for those who are interested. Many people believe that Alex Ebert and Jade Castranos are together, but the truth is, they are not. One day Alex met Jade sitting on a bench and immediately "fell in love" but the majority of those who claim the term "love at first sight" is true, end up with "hate at last sight". Unfortunately they dated for a short while, and eventually broke up, but fortunately they remained close friends and remained band members. I am doubtful that anyone is even reading this so i'd like to make this easy for anyone who is. Please comment with a :v if you are reading this pllleeeaasseeeeee.

I would like to get people to know more about Jade. I will be updating the blog constantly with random tidbits of information about her, and as an audience, if there is such an audience, I would like you to share known facts about her as well.
Really excited for the new album 'Here' already pre-ordered, pumped to hear the awesome collision of noises that collide into one beautiful fucking sound called Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes.
Why must have the only Michigan concert have been canceled? I swear someone's out to get me. Q.Q
Does anyone else want to go shopping with her? I think yes.... Not only does her personality speak for its self but so does her choice of clothing. Seriously though, where the hell does she buy this shit?

My reasoning

For years the band Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes have been one of my favorite bands. One band member particularity, Jade Castrinos, has more than sparked my interest. Although Alex Ebert is the lead singer and creator of the band I personally believe he should step out of the spotlight and let Jade hold her own. She not only gets the crowd going but you as a listener/ watcher, can tell that she is passionate about singing. Unfortunately the more I attempt to learn more about her the less I have come to find. My reasoning for this blog, by which I highly doubt will work, but I hope to make Jade Castrinos famous because she deserves to own the spotlight and overshadow the rest of the world, because her voice is just powerful enough to do so.
